Science of Shadows: ‘Isolated Lights’

Shadows, often dismissed as voids, take center stage in “Isolated Lights.” Through precise lighting and strategic placement of opaque objects, I explored shadow density, diffusion, and edge softness, creating compositions where darkness conveys as much as light.

Shadows form when objects block light, but their character depends on light source size and distance. By experimenting with these variables, I discovered how shadows evoke emotions—sharp edges communicate tension, while soft gradients evoke tenderness. This series celebrates the richness of what is often overlooked.
